Avington Park wedding venue in Hampshire.

A Dream in Every Season

When I first visited Avington Park, it was a grey February day but trust me, you need to picture it in full bloom, bathed in golden sunlight. This place is a dream in spring and summer, overflowing with romance and elegance. It is the kind of venue that makes you stop and take a deep breath just to soak it all in.

A wedding at Avington Park is where timeless English charm meets the wild beauty of the Hampshire countryside. Tucked just outside Winchester and within easy reach of London, this Georgian estate is an absolute showstopper. Think grand architecture, sweeping parklands, the tranquil River Itchen, and intimate corners bursting with florals. Whether you picture yourself arriving by boat, exchanging vows in a rose garden, or hosting a candlelit dinner in a historic library, Avington makes it all possible.

One of the things I love most about Avington is that it’s a dry hire venue which means you can truly make it your own. The estate team has curated a selection of top tier caterers but beyond that, your wedding is completely bespoke. Whether you want a refined classic celebration or something a little more wild and adventurous, this venue adapts beautifully to your vision.

The Venue and Ceremony Spaces

Avington Park sits within 150 acres of stunning countryside, offering complete exclusivity for your wedding. There are multiple ceremony spots to choose from:

The Rose Garden is perfect for up to 150 guests. This enchanting space is framed by delicate blooms, creating the most romantic setting to say I do.

If you love the idea of arriving in style, then the Riverside Lawn is just for you. Imagine making your entrance by boat on the River Itchen before exchanging vows in a tranquil waterside ceremony.

Ideal for an intimate gathering of up to 80 guests, the Library is being thoughtfully renovated with stylish interiors, blending tradition with a modern touch.

If your guest list grows, the Conservatory Extension is a light-filled space that extends the Library’s capacity to 120 guests, offering a beautiful indoor alternative.

The Pavilion bridal prep suite, just steps away from the ceremony spots, is surrounded by flowers in the summer and offers a peaceful retreat as you get ready for the most magical day.

And if the British weather has other plans, there’s no need to worry. A marquee can be set up at no extra cost to keep you and your guests dry without compromising on style.

Your Reception at Avington Park

After the “I dos”, it’s time to celebrate. Avington gives you three dreamy options for your drinks reception:

  • The South Lawns – Perfect for mingling under the open sky, surrounded by sweeping landscapes.
  • The Riverside – With the gentle sound of the river in the background, this setting is as picturesque as it gets.
  • The Library – If you prefer a sophisticated indoor option, this historic room is brimming with character and warmth.

When it comes to your wedding breakfast you have the choice between the cosy Library or the airy Orangery.

The Library is an intimate setting for up to 80 guests, complete with an open fire in winter and French doors for a summer breeze. And the Orangery offers a bright, airy space with stunning views, seating up to 180 guests. It seamlessly blends indoor elegance with outdoor beauty, making it a breathtaking setting for your first meal as a married couple.

The Party

Once dinner is over, it is time to hit the dance floor. Whether you choose the elegancy of the Orangery and Library or the rustic charm of Otters Barn by Avington Lakes, your celebration can carry on well into the night. Picture dancing under the stars, cocktails in hand, surrounded by the ones you love.

Extended Wedding Celebrations

One of the best things about Avington is that you don’t have to fit everything into just one day. You can book the estate for an entire weekend, turning your wedding into a full blown experience. Think pre-wedding dinners, day-after brunches, lakeside picnics and relaxed countryside walks with your closest friends and family. It is the kind of wedding that feels less like an event and more like a chapter in your love story.
